The Shaggy Dog (Remake)
The Shaggy Dog is one of the best Disney movies ever made…the original that is. It is an adorable story about a man who turns into a Shaggy dog. Imagine that!
However, the Shaggy Dog remake starring Tim Allen was just boring as could be! The cast was adorable as were the animals. The story tried to be interesting, but it really was quite frustrating to watch. Most Disney movies are much clearer cut in story line. The story however just went from bad to worse. The conflict with the crazy lab that was trying to genetically alter animals, led by actor Robert Downey Jr., was just out of place in the concept of the original Shaggy Dog.
Disney really surprised a lot of people when they started hiring ex-criminals and ex-drug addicts as well. Between Tim Allen and Robert Downey Jr., the only things the movie needed were a few murders and thieves to make it complete.
So, it is unclear exactly where The Shaggy Dog got so boring. Maybe it was the lack of humor throughout the movie. There were very few hilarious portions like you would expect with a movie such as this one. Most of the movie was more dramatic in tone, which just didn’t work well for the film.
If you have the choice, check out the original Shaggy Dog movie and enjoy the traditional aspects of the story. Forget the modern twists of the newer remake and get back to the root of a great story!
