Religious Conflicts With Movies
It is no question that movies today have religious impacts as well as the fact they are just entertaining. Many religious groups urge there members not to watch movies. Some are even so radical to prohibit the viewing of movies altogether by members. Others simply recommend their members only watch G rated movies, which most often have no religious content or negative behavior in them.
It may seem extreme to think about a church asking their members not to view movies. However, it really does make sense when you think it through. First, most movies today are so negative and put off negative ideas. From the violence to the unrealistic ways of life, they do nothing to teach society right from wrong. In addition, even the most dramatic movies can show behavior that goes against most religious groups.
For instance, even the smallest scenes where people get drunk, have pre-marital sex, or do drugs can go against everything you believe in. When you watch movies that contain these types of behaviors, you are in a way supporting the fact that movies include these actions. In addition, you don’t want your children seeing this behavior. Just as you practice not doing these things in front of them at home, you don’t want to them to be influenced outside the home either.
All in all, another good reason to not watch movies is to keep your religious beliefs unscathed. Some people can watch movies without compromising their religious beliefs. However it may be difficult for some and for children to understand as well.
